Which sewing machine is right for you? Beginners - Sewing machines - Comparison

Helpful tips when buying a sewing machine and my personal recommendation

Here we go: there are of course many different sewing machines that are perfect for getting started. I've picked out a few sewing machines that aren't quite as expensive, as you probably haven't sewn much yet and might not even know if you enjoy it. But I can only tell you that it's the best hobby you can have ;)

Personally, when buying a new sewing machine, I would make sure that I buy a well-known brand because there are simply many very good manufacturers that I trust

 

1. Brother Innov-is A16

The Innov-is A16 is a user-friendly computerized sewing machine with an intuitive control panel. It offers automatic thread tension, 16 different stitch types and a useful threading aid. Ideal for beginners and advanced users.

  • Advantages: Quiet, precise, many setting options.
  • Disadvantages: Higher price, less robust for thick fabrics.

 

2. Singer Talent 3323

The Talent 3323 is a mechanical sewing machine that is particularly suitable for beginners. It offers 23 different stitch types and an adjustable presser foot.

  • Advantages: Easy to use, good price for beginners.
  • Disadvantages: Not as powerful with thicker fabrics.

 

3. Juki HZL-H60

The HZL-H60 is a computerized sewing machine with 40 stitch types. It offers high precision and additional features such as an LED light and automatic buttonhole sewing.

  • Advantages: Very versatile, many functions.
  • Disadvantages: Price-intensive, requires familiarization.

 

4. Bernette b33

The Bernette b33 is a mechanical sewing machine that is characterized by its simple operation and robustness. With 15 stitch types, it is ideal for beginners.

  • Advantages: Durable, solid construction, easy to use.
  • Disadvantages: Few stitch options, no computerized functions.

  • Advantages: Very powerful, robust, perfect for thick fabrics.
  • Disadvantages: Less quiet, limited stitch options compared to computerized models.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for a robust, powerful sewing machine that will delight both beginners and advanced sewers and is not quite so expensive, the Singer Heavy Duty 4423 is a clear recommendation from me. It impresses me with its versatility, high sewing speed and the ability to work with different types of stitches and fabrics without any problems. I have had this machine for a while now and am perfectly happy with it :)

 

Extra tip:

If you want to sew thicker fabrics such as denim, then I recommend the Singer Heavy Duty 4432. This machine is actually almost the same as the 4423, but with additional stitch options and even better processing for heavy fabrics.
