Sewing a top without sewing pattern

Sewing a top without sewing pattern

You can easily sew a top without a pattern. I love this top and it is super quick and easy to sew. I used a light linen fabric, but a viscose or cotton fabric would also be perfect!!

What you need:
- approx. 30 cm of fabric
- 0.7 cm wide elastic band
- sewing machine

here we go:
just measure your chest at the widest point and then add 30 cm to that measurement and 26 cm for the width.

then you can simply cut out a rectangle of fabric in those dimensions.

now you can start sewing: just fold the upper and lower edges twice (0,7 cm) and sew over them

Then you can use a pen that you can erase or a tailor's chalk to draw parallel lines on the fabric. You can draw as many as you want (I made 6 lines) because we will be sewing the elastics on them later

Then take the rubber band and measure the approximate distances on your body where you made the marks and cut the band into several piece.

Then you can sew the ends of the elastics together and also sew the side seam of the top together.

After that, you can start sewing the elastics on the drawn lines. You should make sure that you pull the bands on the width of the fabric and sew them on that way. This way, your top will stay elastic. (pls don´t make a face like me ;D)

You can also mark the quarters of the elastic and the top so that you can always sew up to the quarter. Then you distribute the elastic nicely evenly.

After that, you just have to iron your top nicely so that you get really nice folds

And then just try it on :D

And feel free to send me photos of your top and if you have any questions, just get in touch with me on Instagram  @marasews_clothes
